The Trick

I adore sister Hinckley.  Wasn't she the cutest lady? And so inspiring! I saw this quote on Pinterest, and it was totally a smack in the face. In fact, my mom said almost these exact words to me the other day. Guess I needed to hear them again! It really was like these words were screaming, "HELLO ASHLEY! You have a choice in this! You don't have to be miserable and whiny and annoyed and mad about everything you have to do all the time! You can CHOOSE to enjoy life!" It's crazy how simple it really is.  I've spent a lot of time moping around and being a baby lately.  But after an especially great evening and seeing this quote, I'm determined to ENJOY LIFE, just like Sister Hinckley said.  I can't sit around wishing I was done with school, that I was married, that I had some sweet little kids to take care of, that I had money, etc.  I need to just be happy with the way my life is now. And guess what? I have a lot to be happy about.

One of the biggest reasons I have to be happy is this: I am a daughter of God. And He loves me. He knows me personally, He cares about me, He has a plan for me.  He sent his son, Jesus Christ, to atone for MY sins and feel every pain I will ever feel. I have felt the love of my Heavenly Father and my Savior in my life.  I know that God is listening when I pray to him, and that those prayers are answered. What a comfort it is to know that even when I feel like the whole world is crashing down around me, or that nothing is going the way I planned, I am never alone!

To me, that's a pretty marvelous, amazing, sensational, breathtakingly wonderful reason to enjoy life.
