A New Gallery Wall

101 in 1001 #69: Print wedding day photos and hang them. AND #71: Print most recent family pictures and hang them. Completed February 2018

Woohoo! Two completed at once with this one!

So, this is kind of embarrassing to admit, but up until February of this year, we didn't have ANY pictures of Jack hanging anywhere in our home. Considering by that point he was almost 1.5 years old it was getting pretty ridiculous. I love the look of a gallery wall, and in our first apartment we put up all the pictures that were up at our reception (so not even any from our our actual wedding day!) and called it good for a long time. When we moved, we just basically put them back up in the same way. I knew I wanted to print pictures of our actual wedding day instead of just the bridals, but yet again (as seems to be a recurring theme on this here blog), it just seemed like a super daunting task! Finally, the fact of having a child and actually getting family photos done pushed me to do it, and I love how it turned out.

Here's what it looked like before...

Kind of funny how we had the "family" sign but it was just a shrine to me and Jim. Hahaha. Also, sidenote: this is in our entryway which is just a really long hallway, so it's pretty much impossible to take a photo of this wall straight on. Which is why it's a weird angle and you can see Jack's messy toys in the background! #reallife

Anyway. I did some research on the best, cost-effective place to print photos and not have them look like crap and turns out Costco was the winner! I can't remember the full total but we printed a ton of pictures and it was really cheap. It was also super simple to pick the sizes (although we had to decide which ones were going in which frames beforehand, since we already had so many, so that took a bit of time) and then once we got them it was just a matter of switching them out and hanging them up!

Here's the new wall!

Look! Jack exists! Haha. And now our "family" sign includes our actual families! It was also perfect timing to get these because we got Benjamin and Neve pictures within a few months of each other.

I will say, looking at this picture, there are a few things I'd like to tweak (like how we have two wedding day pictures of us kissing, ha, and there's only one and the rest are actual photos). But for now I like the way it looks, and I'm pleased that Jack made it to our wall, considering he's been a part of our family for so long now.

Finally, just gotta give a shoutout to Jim for hammering in all the nails and making sure they were all straight. That part wasn't his favorite, but I'm grateful for his participation, haha. Woot woot!
