Imitation at its Finest

Something I'm learning pretty quickly about being a parent, is that I need to be more careful with what I say or do. Why? Because Jack has started copying everything I, or Jim, or his grandparents, or his favorite uncle Grant, do.

The other day, I finished up breakfast and left an empty milk carton on the table as I was cleaning everything up. Before I could get back to it, Jack had climbed on the table and dumped what little milk there was left in it (guess it wasn't empty, after all). It wasn't a big deal, but I jokingly said "hey, you little stinker butt!" And then, Jack followed me around the rest of the morning saying, "butt, butt, butt, butt". HA! Oopsie.

Another example of this was quite a bit cuter. I recently got a DSLR camera, and have been messing with it and trying to figure it out by taking photos of my books. Nerd alert, sure, but I also might be breaking into the #bookstagram scene soon for my own joy and pleasure. More on that later.

I've been trying to use the creative, artsy side of my brain more, and the idea for this picture struck me after Jack woke up from his nap, but I had to act fast while the lighting was still good in our spare bedroom. So, I brought Jack along and gave him some toys to occupy himself while I stacked my books like a nerd.

Like so:
Sigh, I just love Sarah Dessen!
Jack was pretty good while we were in there, and I didn't think much about it until later. I was sitting on the couch watching him run around, when I turned and noticed him doing this:
Stacking his books neatly on the couch cushion.

I mean, could you die?!?!?! I laughed so hard and just had all the heart-eyes for this little cutie pie who's displaying his books like his weirdo momma. I might have to include his creations in my bookstagram.... we'll see. :)

So, I guess, that whole copying everyone thing isn't all bad! I can't wait to see what else he learns from me...

Happy Thursday!
