A Broadway Show.

101 in 1001 #26. Go to at least 3 concerts/shows: a band I love, a classical music concert, and a broadway show (or, more realistically, something at Tuachan) || 3/3 Complete January 2019 - A Broadway Show

My mom is the greatest trip planner, ever. When she found out that traveling Broadway company of Dear Evan Hansen was coming to California, she asked my sister Breanna and I if we'd like to go see it, and she'd give us the show tickets for Christmas. Of COURSE we said yes! I didn't know a TON about DEH, but I knew it was amazing and I was more than excited to go.

We made a trip out of it and stayed in Newport Beach at the cutest little bungalow, and just had a relaxing couple of days. We did some other fun things on this trip (like seeing STARS HOLLOW!) but that'll be another post. For now, let's just talk about Dear Evan Hansen.

The only picture we got at the show. My mom was there too!!
This wins the top spot for the best Broadway show I've ever seen. Granted, I haven't seen that many (maybe 5 or 6?) but this took the cake. Not only is the music INCREDIBLE and the story heart-breakingly beautiful, but this cast was stunning and Evan himself was SO GOOD. The story is a really emotional one, and I was bawling by the end.

But Evan. I don't know if you're aware of Ben Platt, but he was the original Evan Hansen on Broadway in NYC and he is incredible, so I was worried that our Evan wouldn't measure up. But... he was... dare I say it... even better? His voice was flawless, his acting was incredibly perfect, and I couldn't have asked for a better Evan. I gasped when he started singing and was completely riveted by him the entire time.

I was on a high the rest of the weekend and I almost still am? Nothing compares to a live experience like that.

It's really hard to put into words, so I don't have much else to say about the night except that it was AMAZING and I will never forget it.
